Another question! Thanks for bearing with me.

I'm trying to figure out this cam chain tensioner thing. I understand the one on the frontside (exhaust side.) Now when I pulled my valve cover off today to set my timing (again) because my bike still isn't running, I noticed that the little piece that fits into the cam chain tensioner (the metal T thing - plunger thing) was not connected to the actual guide. Why? I can't figure it out, or figure out how to get it to stay there.. Would my bike run if this was placed incorrectly or is this the issue that doesn't let my bike run? I'd really like to get this figured out. Yes I read the manual, but it isn't helping me because of how its written.

I would really appreciate some advice and a simple way to put this back in. Thanks!

Darn, I should have taken a picture when it was all apart.. I would rather not take it back apart unless I know that I need to.. Would it make the bike not run? If you have any other suggestions let me know. I wanna ride this thing so bad.
