So the XS400s use the same needle size as the XS650s?

I don't know, haven't researched that yet. Both use bs34 carbs in some years.

5z1-4 for the 400 and 5h12x for the 650. so no

so question is, are the 5z1-4 needles adequate, or do they suffer from the same issues as the stocker 650 needles?

so what are you guys using for carb rebuilds? just the stocker needles?

The stock needles are adjustable (77-79) I am not sure about the later 34's they had a lot of restrictions on them. epa stuff. If you start changing the mufflers and air filters then you will need to be able adjust those to make it run rite.

I wonder if anyone has used a set of modded xs650 34's spaced to fit a xs400?
