carb boot lengthening

does the length of the carb boot (the rubber pipe that connects the carb to the intake manif) have an effect on performance or tuning..

only reason i ask is my frame mods might require i tweak the location of the carbs forward or back.
 
i would say very little performance if any.... i say very little just because of the longer intake would as a cooling agent for the ambient air passing around it cooling the air a little if at all. it more of a hypothisis. as for tuning i wouldnt think it would effect it much maybe make it a little more lean..
 
I don't think it does, I dont have mine on there at all I just have pods directly up to the carbs and I didn't need to re tune it when I took the boot off of the pods and hooked them up direct
 
Old post but this is interesting.

In cars, longer intake runners give you more torque and shorter ones, top end power. So im interested if this makes a difference
