Carburetor film

Cleaning a set of carbs and I dipped them and the black paint fell off and there was a strange film on the inside of the carb when I wipe it with my finger. Two questions

1) Can I leave my carbs bare or do they need to be recovered
2)What is this weird film on my carbs?

I don't know man...it looks like oxidation? What did you use to clean them?

Hope the small passages where not damaged from the dip.

Chemdip is the product I used.

my guess would be residue left from the paint that was on them. have you rinsed everything through already? if so, might just be oxidation.

I never seen chemdip leave a residue like that before.I also used it on mine when I cleened them.
