Carburetors not fitting correctly

The pictures explain alot, Do I have the wrong Carb Boots?
I cannot get these carbs to fit on here, the bike came with no carb boots and I ordered some off ebay.
I have a 1982 xs400

You have the wrong parts. Those are for the SOHC engine. Your bike is either a Maxim or a Seca with the DOHC engine. And you installed the carb boots on the wrong sides. The vacuum fittings are supposed to be on the outside pointing upwards.

Yes! it does say maxim on the side, I had a hard time installing these boots also, had to modify slightly. I think i found the correct ones on ebay...

Find a set of new ones Also gaskets.

sorry to hijack, but does anybody know if the SOHC 400 boots are the same as the 250 boots? I know the other side of the carb is the same (48mm).
