Just an FYI there is a difference with the (18") 77-79 xs400 and the (16") 80-82 rear sprockets. The 16" wheel ones are dished for an offset. Its about 4mm. I would think they did this for the wider (120) wheel. :)

If doing a 16 to 18 rear wheel swap, do you know if you need to swap out the 16" wheel sprocket to the 18" wheel or can you just leave the the sprocket that came stock on the 77-79 wheels? Anyone else do this swap on an 80-82 frame?

Your question is irrelevant to the subject of this thread. If you must, please make a new thread for your question.

As for your question: best bet is ebay.

Start a build thread on the bike you have. Post pics of it also. There are threads on how to do most anything. Use the search funtion to find things. :)

I recently bought a rear sprocket for my 81' with 16" wheel part# JTR854-37 I just noticed that the stock one is offset and the new one isn't so here I am after searching. I planned on running a 130 tire, there is about 1/2" gap between the back of the sprocket and the side of the 120 tire that is on there now, am I going to be able to use this one? If not, can someone point me in the right direction, maybe a part#? I've been searching I can't find anything else, and I would think this would pop up as a common problem.

Thank you, wow that site is a goldmine for part numbers! I might see how much room I'm working with after the new tire is mounted before ordering a different one.

Yeah, wait and see. Might be just fine.
I'll need new sprockets eventually so I had a look at my 82 with the 16" rear. It has the stock size tire and... the flat sprocket. No offset.
Appears to be stock and there's still some clearance.

If you have the 2.15 spoke rear rim you may be fine. The mags use a 2.50 wide rear rim. When I had a 130 tire on a mag and the offset rear sprocket there was only a few mm's from the chain to the tire. As a side note the bike handled much better with a 120 rear tire than when the 130 was on it.
