Front drum brake cables compatibility. 78-80

Hey all! So I've come to notice I need new front brake cables, I've got drums up front. My bike is a 1980 and I was wondering if the cable from a 1978 would work. Reason I ask is there's a cable on eBay that is new and much cheaper but it's for a 78. The listing says it fits only the 1978 xs400 and a bunch of xt500s. Not sure why it would only fit one year, any clarification would be nice! I would just measure my cable but the bike is in the shop for new tires. Still fairly new to this forum but you guys have solved my problem everytime!

Post the ad from ebay. If it's the one I am thinking of then yes it will work. It's a little longer of a cable but the ends are the same.

Not the listing of the one I have as the one I got was like $7 shipped. But it was listed to fit the same bikes as the one in your ad.
