How do you work the triple tree locking mechanism?

I can't get it to do anything. I drive my bike to school and I don't want the seniors messing with it if they decide to do some end of the year pranks

Turn the bars all the way to the stop, push the key in and turn it CCW over to the lock position. Make sure you don't turn it over to "Park" or it'll leave your lights on and drain your battery.

If yours is in the side of the neck it works the same way but don't affect the lights or ignition at all.

Mine still doesn't seem to do anything.

If it's like mine, with the wheel turned all the way to either side, you push the key and cylinder down all the way in, then release it, then turn it counter clockwise to the "lock" position.
It won't turn while I'm pushing it down - only after releasing it.
