How to remove Ignition Coils ('82 Maxim)?

Nice one, glad to see that some of my info has been usefull.
As I said in a previous post, pickups off many bikes of this era are the same, but come with different harness. So while the correct one for this model is preferable, if you are good with the soldering iron and heatshrink a repair can be made relatively quickly.
Check "Yamaha pickups" on ebay and you'll see what I mean.

Terry-It's definitely nice to know that other bikes used the same pickups.

I received the pickups today and they both show resistance of about 130-135. Is that alright?

I'm just glad they both work, but the guy does have a 14 day return policy. I believe someone said around 140, so I assume it means they are both good. It's just weird that the one that does work on mine is around 175-180 (I don't really know ohms too well, I know it represents resistance, but that's it).

Hi again.
Yes they look to be good showing same resistance.
You will soon be up and running on both pots again!

Just an update: The pickups worked out well and I have great spark on both plugs and the bike is running on both cylinders. It sounds really healthy and I almost have the carbs sorted.

Thanks again everyone! I think I'll stash away the one working pickup for a rainy day.
