Hi Guys, My name is Dave. Like many of you, I have an addiction...
I picked up mine on at the beginning of January. I bought the bike from the original owner. He drove it for 13000KM’s (8077 Miles) and crashed it. He fixed it up and got it on the road again. However, he only drove it for 200KM’s (124 Miles) and parked it in a barn. It sat there since the early eight’s. This year his parents were selling the farm and they were cleaning up the property and I picked it up for $400.
After a couple of days in the garage, I got it running. The compression was good so I started into cleaning it up. After a short while I realized he didn’t fix everything from the crash. I found that one of the fork tubes was bent and one of the stops on the triple tree was broken off. Then I was more concerned and started looking it over more and found a broken motor mount and the front down tube was slightly bent to the left. At that point my heart sunk, I was already emotionally attached to it and thought now what…. I had already ordered a bunch of parts and didn’t want it to beet me. Within 30 minutes I bought a frame off of Ebay for $25…lol Once I received the frame, I checked it over and everything looked great! I stripped down a few other parts and got them ready for powder coating.
Once I got the parts back I started working like crazy putting it back together. I’m not totally finished yet. Originally, I hated the signal lights and tail light and I was planning on doing a Café. Now, I really like the signal lights and tail light. I think they keep that old school look to it. I have to figure out the front fender. I might go with a black fender to hide it more. I really like the look of no front fender but the cops around here would go after me. I want to keep it legal but still have a nice look to it.
