Ok:) A few guys have done this with there 400's in the past with good results. Personally I don't like the idea of making my wheels weaker but it's your bike. Good luck with yours.

My father runs a small aluminum foundry and he assured me that what I did will have no affect on the wheels overall structure. Hope to get the pics up soon

Correct that is complete overkill on the speed holes!!!!! I FREAKIN LOVE IT!!!!!! if a few looks good a lot looks better :D:D no offence but in my opinion mags are ugly so you might as well drill the hell out of them to make them look better. Good luck and go with what you like ;)

Nice touch.....not a big fan of mags, but if you got 'em,they look cool drilled.
I've drilled my levers, just to make them not so plain.
I think the trick is to know when enough's enough, unlike Drewpy's pick LOL

Personally,I like your wheels, but what's more important is whether YOU like 'em :D:wink2::cheers:

Finally got through the paint process and here are the last pics of the custom wheel work. All paint was duplicolor graphite wheel paint , primer and matte clear coat. Opinions???

That graphite color is awesome! love it. But unfortunately in the last pic the color is very much the same as the tires, which kind of makes it one big gray thing which is a bummer. Get some new extra black tires or something  or a cream colored tire would look great with this.. Or whitewall tires?

but I think the mod and the color are really good.

The tires are actually the originals from 1978. I got the bike 2 years ago with 184 miles on it and now it has 1350 miles.

if they're from 1978 you definitely need new tires :yikes:

rubber that is that old will never be able to keep you sticking to the road, dry rot is killer. Get some new ones, nice and black if you ask me. :wink2:

The painting looks good and so do the holes, nut sure if it weakens the integredy of the wheels but IF I ever did such a thing I would drill smaller holes and paint my wheels blue to match the color of my bike.
