I don't mean off the bike, I mean both rear pads unglued and came off the shoe. I was on a test ride for other reasons and was really giving her the beans, when I noticed my rear brakes would grab hard near the end of the pedal's travel. I could feel a pulse in the pedal. At low speeds it would skid the tire even at mid travel. I'm lucky they didn't jam completely. I rode her home and pulled off the wheel, and when I took the backing plate off, this is what was starring at me. I've been riding old bikes a lot but this is a first for me. BTW they are 32year old originals.

I have seen this before. It is always good to replace brakes when you buy an old bike for this reason:wink2:

My old set that are the originals wenrt as bad as I thought,I just need to adjust them. They still sop preet good and show very little wear.Since I had the back wheel for changing the sprocket '''''I changed them anyways. For the price they were worth the purchase.
