I got some black header wrap that states it needs to be painted to retain it's black color. Anybody have any experience with black header wrap and how it ages with or without paint?
Ive had some on a mini bike exhaust for about 5 years. The color lightens up like it starts to get ashy and then the strands turn grey/white and start fraying. It doesnt hold up to abuse that well especially after numerous heat cycles. It rusted the pipe too which I did not pre-coat.
My case would be the worst scenario. I slapped it on there because the pipe was a half inch from the seat, never maintained and ridden in backwoods. I suppose it would age better if you kept it on paved roads.
