Hello folks,

Ive been using the site for quite a while to help with some sound XS advise. All of it has been very helpful and useful! So long story short, I have a 1977 XS360 that ive been working on for a few weeks now. Im converting it to a cafe racer to ride around at school plus Old School Everything is my life motto  . I trade three two different bikes (Suzuki DRZ400E to a Suzuki Bandit 1200 to the XS) looking for the perfect bike to build. Finally I found the XS. The 360 was only made for a few years as most of you know so its a bit more rare than the 400... Im guessing...

Anywho I have a few pictures of my progress, Let me know what you think

The First Picture is from the shop, I picked it up in running condition all the indicators were working, shifts smoothly, with 7000 and some original miles.

When I tore into it after a couple hundred miles of riding :wink2:

A few parts hanging and drying after painting. I love the black frame so naturally I wanted to paint the odds and ends black.

Carbs off torn down and bowls cleaned, sanded and clearcoated the tops of the carbs

Painted carb connector

Cleaned Carbs, A new trick that I found online.... I believe it was this site. Boiled them in lemon juice. WORKED WONDERS!!

Flipped handle bars, I have a set of Clubmans but I think I like this look better

Crankcase filter (added HP :wink2: )

And today I was looking for an alternative to those huge stock mufflers. I have a set of Harley Sportster pipes that are clean and I really wanted to mount them... So I found a way to mount them!

I think it turned out rather nice, if I do say so myself and I do say so myself

Only one side finished but thats what tomorrow is for. I mess around and scraped the old carb bowl gasket off so now I'm waiting on another gasket before i can get back on the road and I'm having my seat reupholstered.

And in the meantime I've been practicing my driving on 4 wheels (Watch out for the Volume)

Fingers crossed on the Pictures and Video

Thanks for looking

I really like the way you did the mufflers. What did u use for that bend? Is it flimsy or pretty sturdy? I would like to do that on mine.

I used flexible exhaust pipe and the piping itself is rather sturdy but with the weight of the Harley Sportster exhaust it starts to unflex. The piping is 38mm flexible exhaust piping from autozone and a expansion coupler, I forget the size of the size of it. The Flex pipe fits snug over my stock header. I did however use a C bolt to tighten it. Both the coupler and exhaust fit snug as well with clamps in place to ensure no leaks. I had planned on going to get my headers welded into a 2-1 but I couldn't find a muffler or welding shop open on a Saturday anywhere within 30 miles :banghead: . I also couldn't put my stock exhaust back on. I didn't like the drag pipe look on my bike plus the right one has its share of rust spots. The pipes now are being held in place by zip ties. I plan on finding an exhaust bracket that will fit and bolt onto my passenger peg blot and the wrapping my headers. :bike:

Im pretty pumped today! I was able to get a four wheeler running today at the shop and for my efforts I was given my float bowl gaskets and a roll of exhaust wrap! Im at school right now but as soon as I get home I'm going to slap them on and wrap my pipes. I'll be able to be back on the roads soon :bike:
