I want to put new air filters on my 81 xs 400 special II, should I use pods or k&n preplacements. Which are better for performance? Do you need to do tuning in the carbs afterwords? All opinions are like. Well you know the rest.
Thanks:wtf:h

I would keep the air box stock and avoid pods if you can, tuning can be a lot of work unless you have done it before.

Changing out stock air filters for "performance" filters requires re-jetting of both carbs because the performance filters allow considerably more air to flow through the carbs leaning out the mixture.

Some people say K&N's flow a little too much air, ie they don't filter out dust and debris as well as they should. Either way, you will most likely need to re-jet. I run K&N's and UNI's on my bikes and like the UNI's best.
