hey everyone , I'm new to the thread and to the xs400 . I just picked up a 1979 xs400 bobber hard tail with some possible stator and coil trouble. First i need to get a battery and a working gas tank and attempt to start it(if the coils aren't dead)and then go from there. Ill be reading up on the charging system a lot so any good points would be a great help. I'm coming into this project blind as I didn't build it , so figuring out the wiring and issues is gonna be fun. Great thread.
With someone already hacking the bike all up it is most likely a wiring issue. But if not it's an easy fix and a good used charging can be found on ebay.
