Before I start..I have used the search feature a lot..maybe i just cldnt find my answer.. A friend told me that the xs650 guys rotate their can to get the exhaust lope like bigger bikes..and that I could do the same to my maxim..is there any truth to that? Dnt sound right to me

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Cam timing is very precise, and if off too far will lead to bent valves.

If you want your idle to be rough, just tune it poorly or buy a bike that runs poorly by design! :)

I doubt the bike would even start if you flipped the cam around cause of our 180 rotation. The xs650 uses 360 rotation system if Im correct.
If you want a bike that has a thumping cam get Harley, you can swap with larger cams.

See I was pretty sure we run 180 vs 360 on the bigger bikes... And tried to explain that. But Mr. "Know everything" insisted I was wrong becuz I'm new to bikes and the 650 and 400 have the same can.. Thanks for the answers...

The only thing the 650 and 400 engine share is they where both made by yamaha.
