I wanted to keep my self cancelling signals and to try and keep my XS360 restoration as stock as possible. With a flasher unit being over $100 I decided it was a good time to fix my flasher unit instead.
It's a three prong on case you don't know, that is wired a bit differently than 2 prong so that the self cancelling unit functions.
Simply, I disassembled the unit, gouged out the blown capacitor and replaced it with a decent modern electrolytic. 2200µf cap soldered so that it sits atop the flasher. With the goo from the old built in capacitor gone, the new one fits just fine.
It flashes a touch slow compared to modern flashers, but is on par for old ones. If you want a faster blink rate like newer bikes, go with 1800µf maybe. Or 1600µf.
