Remove exhaust, do I need to do something?

Hi everyone, I have an xs400 1982sj heritage special and I remove the exhaust because they were leaking air. I want to know if I can ride the bike without exhaust, even if it noisy..

No. You need an exhaust. You will blow the motor without one. Fix the leaks or replace it with a good one.

I prefer stock 80-82 sohc xs400 exhaust. It was designed for best overall performance. A 2-1 with a real baffle would be ok. Others have used all sorts of things in the past but most will require a fair amount of tuning to work right. Search the forum for other options that people have used before getting anything.
