Do you guys think it's worth repairing a leather seat or just buying a new one? The bike I bought has lovely electrical tape on it but I want to fix it up.
Unusual for the seat cover to be leather. Probably replaced by a PO. Depends on your quote for repair. Replacement repro covers can run close to $100 with S&H.
Electrical tape is wrong, should have been duck tape. I've seen it used to repair everything including leather jackets and pants. Gives it that vintage look. All kidding aside, the older I get the more I appreciate things that are used and worn looking. When younger, I wanted things to look showroom new and that's way too much work.
I repaired my seat on my own and it turned out great I think... I had never done anything like that and it was a lot easier than I had thought... I got some Whisper Soft Outdoor Vinyl from Joann fabrics... It is stretchy... i carved down the old foam a bit... and stretched the vinyl over and stapled it to the seat pan like the original was... walla...
