So, I’m in the process of rebuilding pretty much everything on my 78 XS400. I ordered a petcock rebuild kit, but the diaphragm didn’t come with a new plastic spacer. I’m pretty sure I need it, but can’t figure out anyway in which to remove the old diaphragm and add the new one. I’ve checked several sites, and they all sell the same kit for my year and model. I’m stumped. Any help?

Spacer should look like this. Not sure where that one came from. I have never seen a sohc xs400 with one like that.

It does look like that, if I were to cut the press fit metal piece off holding the diaphragm lol. But I don’t even think the new piece would fit through the spacer anyway. For the price I paid for the rebuild kit, I should have just bought a new petcock assembly.
