Springer front end on a 1980 xs400 sg??

Me and my dad are trying to get a parts list going with specifics before we get started on our project. We want to make my 1980 xs400 sg into a hardtail bobber as a father son project. we're looking to put a springer front end on it but i have gotten mixed answers about weather its possible or not. so i guess my question is, is it possible? If so does anyone have specifics on what i need?

I know they make springer front ends for xs650's. They also make a neck adapter for the xs400 to make them fit. Here is a thread from this site that gives you the links etc. One guy had the stem machined to fit the xs400. I don't think this is a hard conversion.

Hi Guy's I'm working on my first XS400 project as well and am running into the same problem of not being able to get a springer front end for it. I have clicked the link on this page and it leads no where. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
