Struggling to keep a low idle

Yes, so long as I don't need to go even colder. I believe there is a bp10es, but they are hard to come by. None of the local stores had access to them.

I believe the steel sleeve insert in the right side spark plug hole is what was causing my right side to appear lean. The heat transfer properties are altered significantly with this insert.

I tried compensating for the "lean" plug by enrichening the idle mixture on one side, but this just caused all kinds of problems (it still appeared a bit lean at 3+ turns out with a 50 pilot!)

I actually ended up leaning out the main and pilot jets, re-timing the engine, and using a very cold plug on the one side and now it runs better than it ever has since I have owned it.

The moral of the story is that you need to be careful when reading a plug. I dismissed the sleeve as an issue at first, but once I focused on it as the problem rather than a lean mix I had success.
