tire sizes??

Im new to the site. Isnt there a way I can ask a question to a bunch of people? I have a 79 xs400 with 18" alloy wheels. The tires are in need of replacement but im not sure what size I need. They just say: 18x3 and 18x3.5. How do I translate that into something like 90/100-18. You know millimeters and such.
