Hi guys, i have a trouble starting my bike that i recently bought. I got brand new spark plugs BPR6ES, the left plug cap is still a resistor one, and the right one isn't, because it was fouled and i just found a non-resistor one. So, first problem is - there is spark on both sides, but it seems that the one on the right side has a better(brighter) one. i guess it's because of the resistor cap? The plugs get wet, but when i try to start it it just coughs and tries to start but cannot. I cleaned the carbs and checked them but it seems that the left one is blowing out fuel in the air filter box. Also, the bike has a different air filter, it's not with the round inlet tube. Any suggestions? I checked the timing and it was okay. Also when i checked the voltage that gets to the coils with a multimeter, it showed 1 volt difference from the battery. The battery was 12.43, the voltage to the coils was 10.98. Can this be the problem? I tried to run a wire directly from the battery, but still no luck. Thanks for the help:thumbsup:

Welcome to the forum.

Which model bike is it? Stock plugs for a XS400 would be BP7ES or BPR7ES if you get another non-resistor cap. The sixes would be stock for an XS360. Should run with either though.

The right cap is brighter because it is seeing a higher voltage and current as a result of less series resistance, plug only.
The left cap is not as bright because you've doubled up the series resistance, plug+cap.

Have you had a chance to check float height in the carbs?

The voltage at the coils isn't as important as the resistance readings of the primary and secondary coils. You have sparks so the readings will likely be ok.

Not sure about the filters without seeing them. Do they still somehow attach to the intake?

I did not check the float heights, because i was not sure how to adjust them 26 mm i guess?. Also, i noticed that my bike has points, it does not have an electronic ignition (and it's says special sport on it). It's a 400 and i know it uses BP7ES, but couldn't find them, so i bought the sixes. Yes, the air filters attach the intake, but it's not a round form, it's a D form filter and it seems to have a factory airbox on it.
