Trying to remove center stand, exhaust in the way.

One of the legs on my center stand is bent. I'm trying to take it off so I can attempt to fix it (or leave it off permanently if I can't). Unfortunately the bolt on one side won't come out all the way because it runs into the exhaust on the right side. Can I remove the right side exhaust without having to replace seals? Or is there some trick I'm not figuring out to get the bolt out of there? I got the left side out, but the right side bolt won't give me any angle to wiggle it out of there.

This is on a 1980 XS400GS

Yes you can remove exhaust.try just loosening it first.see if that gives you enough clearance.

Thanks. I managed to wrestle it out of there. I tried to bend the center stand back into place, but it wouldn't budge. Looks like my XS400 will have no center stand!

Did you remove the brackets from the frame too or just take the stand off?

Cut everything out and made it rigid.have a few pics in my album
