Another option could be to just polish those areas you have highlighted with wet/dry and get a chrome like shine just in those areas and leave the rest with the raw alloy look? Would be quite a subtle effect but may look nice

I picked up the other parts that i got vapour blasted. They look great. I want a grey cast finish & that is what i got. I told the guy about leaving the wheels raw& he wanted them back so he could do a better (more bling) job on them but i have already mounted the tyres.

Maybe I'm just an old fogie from the South,but what exactly is "vapour blasting"? Is it the same as steam cleaning,or what? lha [the dumb]

It is like sand blasting but using hi pressure water instead of air to suspend the abrasive media. The water softens the impact so the process is very gentle on the item being cleaned. Here is a video I found. www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1cwHdwDOvU
The guy who did my parts told me not to expect miracles from the process. But i am pretty happy with the outcome.
