what steps on converting my xs400r into a cafe

hi i have just purchased myself a 82XS400r and have just finished tearing her down,i have just started to modify the frame to accept a single seat(plan on turning into cafe style)an d decided to stop as i have no idea on what to do and what steps to take on the rebuild, any advise would be much appreciated,cheers

What I did was I searched for cafe racer pics i liked and saved them to an inspiration folder on my computer. I compared each bike to my bike and tried to work out how to achieve what i wanted.

Post up some pics of your bike in its current state so we can see your project starting point.
