Hey guys, I recently acquired a welding machine from my girlfriend's step-dad to learn welds on. Obviously I'm not about to begin on the frame, but I am wondering what type of steel you all are using for your frame loops for when I do get to the point where I won't royally screw it up. I am going to go ahead and place an order for some to get used to the metal before doing the frame.

Thanks!

sch40 pipe will do just fine for your practice runs... in fact sch40 pipe will do just fine for your seat hoop as well...put the $$ you save on material towards a nice welding lid:thumbsup:

I'd just get some ERW in the same size you want to use for the final product then use either ERW or DOM for your final product. If you're just learning to weld, just get some 1/8" scrap pieces to work on. You're first welds shouldn't be on something round. :twocents:
