Will a 130/90/16 Fit my 79 XS 400?

I've been reading through the forums and have read about some clearance issues with this size tire on a stock bike.

Will it fit?

I am ordering tires and want to go a little wider if I can.

If your bike has a 16" rear wheel it's a 80. Yes a 130 will fit but you will be very tight on clearance. I would stick with the stock 120/90-16 it will fit better and handle better.

Thanks for the reply.I'm having a hard time finding a knobby or a dual purpose set of tires for the 18/16" combo on this bike.

i think shinko has a set of Dual sports that fit 16'' but may need to mix and match front and rear

I had the same issue. You need an 18/18 combo to make it work.

I think Duro has what you need. I have 130/90-16 on the back of my 81 desert sled bike. I trimmed out some of the unneeded gusset at the front of the swing arm to gain ample clearance, then welded the round pipe to the remaining gusset. Has worked great for the past couple of years and allows me to off road the bike when I want. Good Luck
