Now that I've got the engine running nice I attached the clutch cable to go through the gears and make sure they were all engaging right.
They are all engaging OK but with no use to the clutch cable...

I managed to get it running today, turns out it was all a timing problem. Here's a link to it running, could do with idling at a slight lower RPM but still chuffed. Thanks for the help everyone!

I've had another look today, checked all the wires to and from the points, condenser and coils. I've replaced the points wires with some new ones as the old ones were looking tatty and made sure the left contact point will be firing the left plug etc and now nothing is sparking. The...
I just checked to see if they both sparked and only one side is sparking. I only used one plug so must be coming from somewhere else? Coil or gap in points!?

Tried testing my engine via an electric start but it's not firing. Seems to be turning over OK but not doing much else. :banghead::confused::wtf:
I did also get a flame out of the right pipe along with a load bang (backfire?) before I filmed the video.

After a while of searching on the web of how to do a basic engine test I finally got it running with thanks to drewpy.
Battery; negative to frame.
