Hello world.

I learned how to ride on a 70s Yamaha 100cc enduro in SoCal and then graduated up into a FZR600 that I rode the piss out of throughout my early 20s. Joined the military and was stationed places I couldn't ride a lot so riding took a backseat for 4 years or so. Then I moved to the south (land of 300 days of riding a year) and bought a Ducati S4Rs. Love at first ride. I don't think I will ever sell that bike. It is amazing.

I've been wanting a cruiser for some time now but couldn't justify having two $10k+ bikes if I got a HD or something similar. Then my buddy showed me pictures of his old cb750 bobber. It was pretty sick and he only had like $5k into it.

That spurred my gears going. Did some research and wanted to get a xs650 to do the same thing with since I love twins. Couldn't find any 650s but a xs400 fell right into my lap a couple weekends ago when my track day got cancelled due to rain...

Plans to bob it and be "done" within 3 months and under $1k. We will see.

Welcome and nice to see the before and after picture in one shot :)
Not often the Ducatisti find this forum  Got Desmo

Welcome to the forum! Is that a '79-80'? These bikes are so classic 'sport/touring' type bikes.May be slightly different than the Ducati hehehe. Got yer work cut out. Enjoy

The best I can tell it's a 81, but honestly who knows at this point after digging into it and seeing how everything is rigged together.

Definitely different than the Duc, that part was on purpose :)

I was going to say the seat looks like an '81 or '82- '79 has virtually no step, '80 has more of one, but not that big.
