Looking for some ideas for custom lighting on my '83 Maxim… no ground effects or anything like that, but cool head/tail lights and turn signals.

When I got my bike a couple weeks ago, the engine was a nice silver colour, as it's supposed to be. Last week I turned it on to let it idle for a bit to run some fuel system cleaner through it.. went out about 20min later and found this awful brassy discolouration. Any ideas what it is, or how...
