It was recommended to me that I invest in a Chilton's Manual for my bike, but after poking around online I'm not having any luck. Does such a manual exist for an '83 XS400? Anyone know where I could find one?

I don't think anyone made a manual for the 83 DOHC bikes. Just the Yamaha service manuals (available on here).
Chilton did a 1976-1980 SOHC manual
Clymer did a 1976-1978 SOHC manual
Haynes did two, a 1975-1978 SOHC and a 1975-1984 SOHC

Well I guess that's going to make it awfully hard to find then! lol Appreciate the info, you just saved me hours of searching.
