Here's my attempt at a rattle can paint job. Didn't turn out too bad. 8 coats of heat resistant engine paint, some 1000 and 2000 grit paper and some polishing compound. Smooth as a baby's bottom. Gotta change those bars, though.

I recently had my nephew work on my 78 XS400. He replaced the battery, I think from Walmart. Until my Modder modified the stock seat I had no idea the battery was too tall for the bike and the seat sits on the battery rather than the frame. Trouble is, I can't find a battery to fit the bike...

What is the procedure for getting to the idle screw? The one between the carbs. Looks like you almost have to remove the tank to get to it. Am I missing something?

I'm replacing the stock seat with a solo seat from TC Bros Choppers. The guy mounting it says the battery is about 1 inch too high so will have to shim up somehow. They offer a pivot front mounting bracket which costs almost as much as the seat but will at least give me battery/fuse access...
