Up for sale is my 1980 xs 400 with 991 miles. Thats right, under 1000.
I bought the bike with intentions of doing a cafe build, but never really got around to it, and dont for see that happening anytime soon. not too mention, id feel wrong cutting up a bike in this nice of shape!
Bought the bike with 991.5 miles, now has 991.8. Have drivin it through my neighborhood, but thats it. (no motorcycle endorsement or gear)
It was obviously stored inside most its life. No fading of paint, no weather checking of seat/tires, redline on tach still a vibrant red.
As ive posted on here before, it ticks quite a bit. In the little ive drivin it, its gotten quieter, so im assuming just dehydrated lifters or something. No weird loss in power because of it.
New in the last 2 months:
- OEM Carb boots
-OEM Intake manifold
-Tank cleaned and sealed with kbs gold seal
-OEM carb rebuild kit
-carbs cleaned/rebuilt/synced by Don at lincoln classic bikes (Great guy btw!)
-Oil/filter
Other info:
Both e-start and kick start work
compression is 149 on left cyl, 152 on right. In other words, perfect
Has original tires (i believe). No weather checking, still very soft, hold air just fine.
Original paint looks near new. some minor chips.
Seat has 1 small tear, and 1 scuff. Pictured.
Dual drum brakes recently checked over and set in spec
Needs:
Battery, Ive used one from my buddy, but hes since takin it back.
Headlight bulb
(possibly)chain. (its a little rusty, at very elast, needs adjsuted)

Im pretty set on price. Ive seen them go for more in same condition, and of course higher miles. Most people advertise under 10k as low miles. nows youre chance to own a true barn find of a bike!
Would take trade for Pontiac Firebird parts (77-78) Or any pontiac 400 motor parts/full motor)
Would also possibly trade for another bike in similar condition.
