Hello everyone,

I began working on a 1982 XS400 DOHC with my friend last year and inherited it. The bike ran but poorly and had a cracked head gasket. I am new to maintenance and took over ownership of the bike from him. The multitude of unmarked parts is disheartening, but so far I have:

1. Cleaned up the cylinders
2. Put on new rings
3. New engine gaskets
4. Got the timing done and engine back together
5. Cleaned the carburetor
6. Painted the engine and fairings

Next step is to get this thing back together and hopefully not be missing anything. I look forward to reaching out with questions and hopefully being of help to others.

Realized that I stated 6 incorrectly. Painted the gas tank and fairings. I would never paint an engine.
