Larger tires?

Alright guys I've got a 77 and the factory tire sizes are 90/90 18 and 110/90 18. I want to run fatter tire on both front and rear. Has anyone gone bigger and not had to do any mods with a 110/90 18 front and a 120/90 18 rear. Or should I go with a 110/80 18 and a 120/80 18 for a lower profile?

I've read about some guys who experienced a big change in performance (for the worse) when they deviated too far from manufacturers' recommended sizes and types.
Maybe handling and performance are not big issues for you if you are mostly an easy-going cruiser, but research it thoroughly before you part with too many dollars.
