need to find this idle mix screw.

None of the screws at mikesxs look like mine. Has anybody had to replace these screws on a 1979? Need to order them asap, so any held will be helpful.

The replacement screws are not as long or tapered as the originals but they work fine. Less chance of the pointy little tip getting broken off in the hole.

My son and I both used screws purchased from Mikesxs for our '80 & '81 XS400s.

Oliver, are you sure mikesxs will work on a 79. I know the carbs changed abit in 80. I want to make sure before i order. Can you put a link to the screws you used from mikes site please. Anybody else use thr mikesxs screws with sucess on a 78 or 79?

No I am not certain. I was mostly responding to the fact that newer idle mix screws don't taper down to as fine a point. Since I don't have a '78 or '79 bike with that carb, I can't be certain. Others who have direct experience will have to chime in.
