Inherited a 1981 XS400SH project from a good friend.

This will be my first motorcycle restoration/mod after having worked on Datsuns/Nissans and BMWs cars for years.

Not sure at this point which direction this project will go... Stock resto, cafe racer, or?
Will post pics as the project progresses.

Any recommendations on re-chroming shops in Vancouver area are appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! My recommendation would be to spend some time doing a thorough engine check/rebuild/clean. Powerplant is easily the most part of any custom/resto job, so I'd start there.

As for what direction to take, go to the "some nice modded xs400s" thread and take a gander through there. Lots of xs400-crazed folks on this site constantly combing the internet for photos of xs400 porn!

The project was given to me with the engine already removed so that's an easy place to start. The previous owner also included a complete engine gasket kit so I have my work cut out for me.
