So,
the weather is shite, which means working outside is most unpleasant
And, since I need to procastrinate with my exams coming up, I picked up an old project for which I have been picking up some bits over the last week.
I bought this old East-German bass for just €10 a few years back, all hacked up, and re-did the electrics.
Since the previous owner made it frettless, quite poorly, I swapped the neck for a different one I had lying around. However, I wrecked some rusty old bridge saddle in the process.
So, last week I picked up a complete second hand bridge at my local bass-expert, who graciously threw in a fairly new capacitor for free to replace the utter crap one I had installed. I stripped the body of all components and simply dyed it black. Then I re-did the awful soldering I did a few years back and installed the new capacitor. Now it looks all neat and such
Finally, I made a volume and tone knob out of a pair of old dice.
Then, Rebuild! View results below!
You may notice a slight absence of neck, which I regret to say is a direct result of poor East-German screw quality... I broke one in 3 (!) pieces upon disassembly, and another on reassembly. That's gonna be quite a pickle to sort out.
Cheers!
