Oil Overflow

Question...

So last summer I changed the oil on my bike (1982 XS400 Maxim) and ever since then it has been dripping oil from the air box overflow tube.

Anybody know why this happened? I put in the recommended amount of oil.

Also ---

Should I be using the site glass to determine if there is too much oil?
Currently the oil level is over the top of the site glass so technically I have no idea how much oil is too much.

You over filled the engine. The sight glass has an upper and lower mark on it. Keep the oil level between the marks when the bike is upright, on level ground.
