If I run into a bike with this problem I take the head off and run a tap/thread chaser from the inside. Yes, it's a lot more work, but it does fix it up pretty well.
Yeah 79xs, that would be the ideal way to fix it lol but i just wanna get it to work asap, and in this case it wasn't as badly damaged as to need a full retap. If it strips again, then i will need to retap fully and use an insert but at least the first 5 threads are already done
I know it happens but remember that the best way to prevent this from happening in the first place is to always put your plugs in by hand and then tighten with the wrench especially with aluminum heads that way if you cross thread you can feel it before You do damage. And I Always put anti seize on the treads so they don't Gaul when you take them out. That's on cars any one have a problem with that on bikes??? Pops always said an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I wish all the previous owners knew that
