hey,

i just recently bought a 82 yamaha xs400 with a monoshock rear swing arm from my roommate. i wanted to make it dual shock and go for more of a cafe/brat style bike. i found a 81 yamaha xs400sh dual shock rear swing arm on ebay. i was wondering if theyre interchangeable?

any info would be great, and i tried to research it, but really couldnt find a definite answer.

No, but with a welder and some fab work you may get it to work.

I think you can make the mono shock work. Honestly, it's more sporty than a dual shock setup.

With the side cover area and battery removed that model actually has a really nice stance.

I'd guess that more people want to go mono shock than the other way around. I would.
