The right hand control on the XS400 grounds through the bars. Weirdly, it doesn't even ground to the bars, but to the left control.
I didn't want to scrape the bars, so I opened it up, thinking to add a ground wire.
Sonofa...
There is a ground wire. It is even pinned to the connector. It's the black one on the picture of the back of connector.
Weirdly, the mating connector has no pin and it plugs into nothing.
Even more weirdly, there is a free ground wire in the headlight bucket that goes into the main harness. It had a ground from one of the blinkers originally, but the other connector was a twin bullet, and I plugged them both in there.
I tested by connecting the free pin to that ground wire and it works a treat.
I am thinking of wiring this permanently. A male bullet connector ought to do it.
