Where to buy a regulator?

I need a new regulator for a 78 xs400. I see that accell makes one but it says it also fits the xs650 which is a completely different charging system so I am weary of it.

Does anyone know where I can buy a new one?

Hey Campbell, I just verified what was off on my bike.

If you have points and are on a bike from 70-79, you can use a napa vr291 or Oreilly r292.

Mine was having trouble connecting because I tried bullet connectors that crimped, once I made a real soldered connection it worked exactly as spec.

Orange and yellow wire are merged, and attach to the brown wire at voltage regulator socket.

Green goes to green.
Black goes to black.

For 21 bucks it's a great option.
