I was taking a 150mi trip up to northern VT when my bike popped out of gear and I pinned the tach. Now the engine has a slapping metal on metal sound. luckily I was 5 mi from a Suzuki/Ducati dealer but 75mi from either end of my trip. One of the techs gave a good listen and took it for a ride...

Looking good! I can't tell from the pic. Do you have another bottom cross tube where the center tubes come down behind the motor? I'm no engineer but it seems like there should be one towards middle or back on bottom rail, like there is in the front. I know the axle will shore up the very back...
