I was taking a 150mi trip up to northern VT when my bike popped out of gear and I pinned the tach. Now the engine has a slapping metal on metal sound. luckily I was 5 mi from a Suzuki/Ducati dealer but 75mi from either end of my trip. One of the techs gave a good listen and took it for a ride. He said that he believes the timing chain self adjusting tensioner went and it was my timing chain slapping around. He said I'd be fine to get home but he wouldn't ride it much more then that. I can't bring it to my mechanic till wednesday he's off for the holiday. I guess my question is, would a loose timing chain cause loss of power? Not that I really wanted to but I couldn't get it to go faster then 50-55.

timing will have slipped with the timing chain too.

seeing as the mechanic was there and we are just guessing, I would have to go with what the mechanic said unless we have pictures/video etc to make are own mind up.
