400 is split, and I'm attempting to merge the bottom half of the 360 with the top half of the 400 and I cant seem to get them to join.... I was so hopeful. Any ideas anyone?

360 case is split and the transmission gears are the same. Does anyone who has split a tranny know if my shift tumbler should be rotating gears when I try to turn the tumbler through the gears?

One of my engine mounts on the bottom half of the tranny is broken, so I really only need to know if anyone has used just the bottom half of the xs360 tranny with the rest of an xs400 engine?

As the title suggests, could I put the top end of an xs400 on the transmission of an xs360? The bottom end appears identical to me Thanks

was putting my engine back together the other day and ran into the same issue... this looks to be very helpful, and i will try it next week when i get back to my bike. thank you for this, and thank you Burr for this thread, i will be following this

one more thing... when i was removing my gearchange drum, i noticed that my detent plunger was broken. the cap that slid over the spring was cracked, and it was not sitting right at all. does anyone think this could have anything to do with me not being able to shift gears? i lucked out...

Just a little update. Got the remainder of the frame disassembled, seat hoop finished, and dropped off for sandblasting and powdercoating. picked up my ebay transmission parts from the states and started assembling the tranny. now i'm back at work for a week, and hope to receive my gasket...

i tried a few different ways, and using the retention bolt threaded in loosely i believe was what i ended up doing. struggled for an hour, pullers slipped, stripped some of the aluminum from the rotor, put the pullers back on to try again, no luck, left them on and drove 45 minutes in traffic...

Thanks for the reply, I have the centralizer screw, washer and nut, as well as the circlip, I had just removed them because I had been taking the gear change mechanism off and putting it back on so many times. I'm guessing the gear change drum is out of position right now, I've now got it in...
