    Max fork tube size

Sounds like a good alternative. I'm looking really hard to find some concrete info in the specs for the ninja. Kinda tough though. What measurements do I need to know?

    Max fork tube size

Can the triple trees be bored out to take bigger fork tubes? If so can it be done up to 41mm? Reason I ask is I can get me hands on a 08 ninja 650r rolling frame for cheap. If I can't get the tree to fit I would like to at least bore my tree out and slide the forks into mine. The rim is a...

    Machine shop/rebore questions

From what I read the 225 pistons are 1 mm shorter from Crown to Center of wrist pin. And the XJR rods are 1 mm longer. So theoretically it should match up pretty well. Also what I read is that the GS 500 Pistons require recrowning to work with the bowl.

    Machine shop/rebore questions

After more research, I think I've decided that I'm going to go with XJR1300 rods and possibly xt225 pistons or possibly GS500 pistons. I'll probably stay around 70 to 71mm. That way I don't have to replace the sleeves. As far as compression goes I think I'll probably try to stay around 10:1 I...

    Machine shop/rebore questions

Well much apologise. I guess I should have read past the first page. That forum is a little screwy on my phone and the next page button was missing.

    Machine shop/rebore questions

I've seen that thread. That's where I got the idea for the raptor Pistons. I saw this post where the guy talks about boring the cylinders bigger to take xs650 sleeves. He has other posts talking about bigger sleeves for big Pistons. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=9766.0 Also if you...

    Machine shop/rebore questions

First off I want to see if there are any members on here who are machinists that can resleeve my engine. If not maybe a suggestion to a place I can ship. I was looking at L.A. Sleeve but I have no experience. My machinist won't do bike engines. (I've used him for car stuff). Second I want...

    Flat yoke crown

Well I found this. I know the RDs share a lot with the XS. Are the tubes the same size? https://cognitomoto.com/collections/new-products/products/billet-top-triple-clamp-rd400-kawasaki

    Ok. Thanks.

    Flat yoke crown

ive been searching for days for a flat upper yoke for my 77 xs400. I'm overhauling my front end and want to drop it a little. I also want a flat yoke so my fork tubes don't stick out. I want to bring up the clip-ons a little too. A flat upper yolk would solve all of that. I saw one off of a 82...

    LED flashers

Ya. I don't mind removing it. This is my first bike with one. And according to the manual you want to practice Turing it off manually anyways.

    LED flashers

So I take it with LEDs the flash cancel won't work right?
  13. xscafe

    LED flashers

Ok. Sweet. I was thinking it was the flasher but not 100%. Other bikes that I've switched to LED would flash for a split second

    LED flashers

im having a little issue. I know prior to tear down my flashers worked. (I took off all the lights, seat, and tank) I put on all new lights and now no flashers. I took off the flasher cancel like the manual says but nothing. It did get rained on twice with all the wires exsposed. I'm just not...

    Brake fluid

    Dave, Thanks again. Lol.

    Brake fluid

That is entirely true. Coming from someone who has seen it first hand multiple working a job that requires me to know it in order to keep a roof over my family's heads. I'm sure I could find that answer myself but I figured someone on here would know off the top of their head.

    Brake fluid

Don't put dot 5 in a dot 3/4/5.1 system. It will swell everything rubber and lock up Pistons. Don't put dot 3/4/5.1 in a 5 system, it will eat the lines and seals and leak. It's not about mixing them. Although that is also bad.

    Brake fluid

Dot 4 is glycol and dot 5 is silicon. Dot 5.1 is glycol. Is that what you mean?

    Brake fluid

Having a hard timing finding this answer and I'm sure it's simple, but what fluid are you guys running? I got my bike with no fluid and the reservoir caps are faded so I have no idea if it's glycol or silicone fluid.. :banghead:

    Jets?

It sounded big to me too. I bought the bike from my sister who bought it from a friend when she lived in North Dakota. As far as I know she brought it here and never road it. Someone has been in them before but I don't know how they jetted them. I got it running before I did anything but it...
